In high-risk industries such as electrical supply, having the right skills in an emergency can mean the difference between life and death. The UETDRMP007 – Perform Rescue from a Live Low Voltage Panel course is a nationally recognised unit of competency that provides critical training for workers who may need to respond to incidents involving live low voltage (LV) electrical apparatus.
This training is particularly important for those working around switchboards and other live LV panels, where the risk of electric shock is significant. Unlike general electrical safety training, this course focuses specifically on rescue procedures within live LV panel environments, excluding overhead lines and underground cables.
What the Course Covers
Participants in this course will develop the practical skills and knowledge required to:
- Assess and manage a casualty in a live electrical environment
- Contact emergency services promptly and correctly
- Understand and apply compliance requirements for approaching LV panels safely
- Maintain safe distances for tools, workers, and equipment
- Identify and control hazards within the work area
- Carry out a structured LV panel rescue procedure
- Perform CPR in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines
This hands-on training ensures that participants are not only compliant with WHS/OHS legislation, but also capable of taking immediate action in the event of an electrical incident.
Why This Course Matters
In the electricity supply industry (ESI), risk is part of the job, but unpreparedness should never be. Incidents involving live panels can escalate rapidly, and in many cases, co-workers are the first responders. Having someone on-site who is trained and confident in live panel rescue and CPR is essential for worker safety and regulatory compliance.
This course is often considered a mandatory requirement for workers in high-voltage environments. It’s also a valuable addition for maintenance crews, safety officers, and anyone whose role may bring them into proximity with switchboards or live LV equipment.
