The SafeWork NSW White Card is a mandatory requirement for anyone wanting to work on a construction site in NSW. This one day, face to face, General Construction Induction training course gets you your White Card with nothing further to pay.

This Course covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.

White Card Course in NSW

Unit of competency: CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry

Course outcome: Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a National Statement of Attainment in ‘CPCCWHS1001 Work Safely in the Construction Industry.’ Participants will also receive an interim SafeWork Statement of attainment that allows them to work immediately on construction sites across NSW. Participants will then receive their White Card direct from SafeWork. All SafeWork White Card fees are included in your Training course fees. You will have nothing further to pay to receive your White card.

Entry requirements:

An individual undertaking this course will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

Proof of age – must be 14 years or over.
Valid working email address.
Points of current and valid identification (including Photographic ID) please refer to the Evidence of Identity requirements. You will be provided with an Evidence of Identification Checklist (EOI) to complete on enrolment.
Physical capacity to demonstrate the correct donning and removing of PPE for assessment.
This course is for New South Wales only. Students undertaking this course must be a resident of the state in which the course is being undertaken.

Pre-course study: Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode.

Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

Course duration:

  • Face to Face contact time of at least 7 Hours (including breaks)

Course content:

  • Work Health and Safety legislation.
  • Understanding and identifying hazards and risks on construction sites.
  • How to control risks and prevent accidents on construction sites

Assessment requirements: Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written, oral, and practical assessment tasks.

Assessment of this unit consists of three assessment tasks:

  • Answering a series of multiple choice and short answer written questions.
  • Answering a series of short answer oral questions.
  • Observation of learners demonstrating the correct fitting of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) items.

What to bring:

  • You MUST bring 100 points of identification on the day. Ideally a photo ID such as an Australian driver’s licence or passport plus another form of ID.
    You will not be able to commence the course without this, please review the Evidence of Identity Table for more details or contact our team regarding suitable identification.
