Mental Health First Aid

A Mental Health First Aid course teaches people how to recognise the early signs of mental health challenges, respond with confidence, and guide someone toward appropriate professional support. Participants learn how to approach difficult conversations, offer reassurance, and understand common conditions such as anxiety, depression, and substance‑use concerns. The training focuses on building practical, compassionate skills—like active listening, assessing for immediate risk, and encouraging help‑seeking—so individuals feel prepared to support someone experiencing a mental health crisis or developing a mental health problem.

While a standard First Aid course focuses on physical health emergencies such as bleeding, fractures, burns, or cardiac events, Mental Health First Aid addresses the equally important but often less visible psychological aspects of wellbeing. Traditional First Aid equips you to stabilise physical injuries until medical help arrives; Mental Health First Aid equips you to provide initial emotional and practical support until professional mental health care can be accessed.

At Excite Safety we have several Mental Health First Aid courses available, each course covers all the common aspects of Mental Health First Aid, but has a different focus area/s so you can tailor your learning experience to suit your needs.
